![]() ![]() This made me more or less just passively liking him without feeling much else until he started crushing on Nina. Early on he stayed a little boring, his only real traits being both a rookie with some latent skill, and that he hated carrots. Kou Uraki: Now Kou I didn't really know what to expect from going in. I'll elaborate more on Kou's side later, but my overall final impression is that she was mostly fine until someone smacked her over the head with the stupid stick in episode 13. Yeah I agree that her 180 on helping Gato over Kou and pointing a gun at him was pretty idiotic of her, and at the end Kou was too forgiving of her for it. I was beginning to think she wasn't too bad, her emotional and indecisiveness could be chalked up to being a civilian, but then the Gato scene happened. Though I was expecting a lot more from her given her reputation for most of the mid to late parts of the OVA. I didn't find her too bad at first, she seemed a bit overly emotional, and I was a little upset when her first reaction upon seeing Kou get hurt in the GP01 was "What's he done to my Gundam?" (Seriously Nina?). Nina Purpleton: Ok lets get her out of the way first. Now for characters that I have more to elaborate on specifically. Keith I found nice as the nerdy sidekick, and appreciated that he ended up with Mora and was a pretty decent person overall, and South Burning himself has both a name Domon Kasshu would love (though he has the wrong Cardinal Direction) and was a pretty cool veteran type who made me feel genuinely bad that he died so unceremoniously and right as we learned a bit more of his personal life. Most characters I sort of lump together as likable to unlikable without too much spectacular writing, such as Mora being likably protective of Nina and most women in general from perverts like Monsha, who was a right prick and the only redeeming factors were his friendship with Lieutenant Burning, and him helping steal the GP03. There were a few key things I wanted to sort of vent my thoughts on, mainly some characters and plot elements. I had heard all of the complaints about Nina, some people's thoughts that the series' only benefit was its pretty animation, and then other people's rather high opinion of 0083 and finally took the time the past few days til today to watch the whole of the OVA myself.
